Kasugayama Primeval Forest | Feel the spirit of God in Nara



What is “Kasugayama Primeval Forest ” ?

Kasugayama is a mountain which is located to the next to Kasugataisha shrine in Nara city. It has been preserved as a sacred forest after the prohibition of a hunting and a felling 1100 years ago.

What is a unique point about this mountain?

An ancient Japanese religious faith was deeply related to a mountain worship so this forest is nominated not as a natural heritage but as cultural heritage by UNESCO.

Where can we start hiking?

“Kasugayama primeaval forest is located on the back of “Kasugataisha shrine”. On the way to the shrine, there is a path for going to “Kasugayama primeval forest”.
